A search has been launched for the people responsible for the murder of the 58-year-old, who got out of his vehicle after getting a breakthrough on the R556 road between Mmakau and the British in the northwest.
According to police, the victim, Sello Kgasi, was driving from Rosslyn to the British in a white Toyota Quantum minibus, with two passengers, on Friday night when he got a breakthrough.
“The vehicle received a breakthrough after crossing spikes spread on the road near the Solar Panels camp. Kgasi allegedly stopped the vehicle to repair the breakthrough, but two suspects armed with firearms ambushed and shot at him,” police said. a spokesman for Captain Sam Tselanyane said in a statement.
“As a result, Kgasi was mortally wounded and the suspects stole his personal gun and other items.
“Furthermore, the suspects also stole an undisclosed amount of cash and their mobile phones from the two passengers. According to reports, the suspects, who are still at large, communicated in Shona.”
Northwest Police Commissioner Lt. Gen. Sello Kwena has mobilized a 72-hour activation plan, which includes the deployment of various units to search for and apprehend suspects.
“The public, especially motorists, is warned to be very careful when approaching the area at night because it becomes a hotbed of crime. We will not leave a stone unturned to ensure that the alleged perpetrators are brought to the book,” Kwena said.
