Despite the fall in temperatures recorded last night in the large areas of the city, the number of families without electricity this morning is still high. According to the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ENRE), just over 68,000 households were left without electricity in the capital and suburbs of Buenos Aires, and Edesur was the company with the most vulnerable customers. Yesterday there were 110,000 affected users.
According to updated ENRE data as a controller, 21,413 users did not have a service in the Edenor Concession Area. The injured areas are the northern part of the Federal Capital and Escobar, Las Heras, Rodríguez, Hurlingham, José C. Paz, La Matanza, Moreno, Pilar, San Fernando, San Miguel, Tigre, Ituzaingó, Merlo, Tres in February, Malvinas Argentinas and San Martín.
Edesur has in the meantime increased the number of hit customers at 49,760. Areas with more cuts are from the southern area of the great Buenos Aires: Almirante Brown, Lomas de Zamora, Avellaneda, Quilmes, Cañuelas, Esteban Echeverría, Berazategui and San Vicente.
The supervisory authority explained that supply cuts were the result of a high consumption of high temperature service consumed during the last three days. Day yesterday, for example, he marked 45 degrees of cold wind in the city region, and the number of homes without electricity exceeded 100,000.
The foundations of the state entity indicate that the Argentine Electric Power System (SADI) had a demand of 26.113 megawatts (MW) when the temperature reached 35.6 degrees and came close to the historical data from 8 February 2018 with 26,320 MW.
However, there is nothing to explain about the lack of investment of distribution companies despite the rates that were successively applied during the government of Maurizio Macri, under the pretext of improving the provision. In fact, the price of the service grew above any other price of the economy, not counting that, according to the Government, the accumulated growth for this year would be 50 percent.
Following the succession of courts, hundreds of people organized a number of street protests yesterday, which spread across the capital and the province.
For today, the National Weather Service has restored an orange warning that warns of the influence of extreme heat on health. This organism provides a hot day with temperatures ranging from 25 to 34 degrees in the afternoon.
