A man has died on the beach on the state's north coast after being pulled from a rip.
The 36-year-old was swimming with a group at Brunswick Heads, about 100 meters south of the surf club on Thursday morning when he began to struggle in a rip.
Two surfers pulled the man from the water and started CPR as emergency services were called to the scene, a spokeswoman for NSW Police said.
Despite the efforts of surfers, lifeguards, paramedics and police, the man could not be revived. He died on the scene.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
