City won the English Premier League game 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Ilkai Gindoyan, Phil Foden and Kevin de Bruyne scored one goal each. The scorer of Chelsea’s only goal is Callum Hudson-Odoi.
City tasted victory in the league after two consecutive defeats at Chelsea. For the first time in the tournament, they won three matches in a row.
City have not found six players infected with the coronavirus, including striker Gabriel Jesus and defender Kyle Walker, against Chelsea. Their league game against Everton was postponed last Monday for the same reason.
Although Chelsea were a little ahead at first, City got their first good chance. In the 15th minute, Joao Cancello caught the ball alone, but failed to aim a shot at De Bruyne.
With a few exceptions, the guests went ahead with three goals in three minutes. In the 18th minute, Alexander Jinchenko’s extended ball found Foden in front of the D-ball. Gindoan received the ball near him, turned the body and found the address with a low kick of his right foot. Jumping goalkeeper Eduan Mandi touched his hand and caught the ball in the net.
After a while, Foden doubled the lead. The 20-year-old English midfielder sent a pass from De Bruyne from the left in front of the penalty area and sent the ball into the net at the first touch.
De Bruyne’s goal in the 34th minute was 3-0. After clearing Chelsea’s free kick from City, Rahim Sterling returned to the post with the ball from the middle of the field and hit the post. Belgian midfielder De Bruyne made a mistake by getting the ball in front of the penalty area and sending it into the net.
Chelsea failed to put Premier League debutant Jack Steven in the first half in place of City goalkeeper Ederson. This time only one of their four shots was aimed at the goal. City had four of their 11 shots on goal, three of which matched success.
The backlog could have increased further in the ninth minute of the second half. Spanish midfielder Rodri headed with a free kick from De Bruyne to save Mandi in exchange for a corner with one hand.
The rest of the time neither team was able to create a clear chance. Hudson-Odoi reduced Chelsea’s advantage in extra time. The English striker easily scored from a pass from Kai Hervatz.
