New option for WhatsApp group calls

(Agence Ecofin) – With limited travel around the world during this period of the pandemic, the use of instant messaging apps is crucial to maintaining contact with family and loved ones. On WhatsApp, group calls are a good way to stay connected, but users have often been disappointed by missing calls after launching. To address this concern, the app has launched a new feature.

WhatsApp users will now be able to join the ongoing group call. This is a real improvement in the user experience, as until now it was necessary to close the group call and then restart it before you could add a new person. According to WhatsApp: “The most profitable conversations happen when you least expect them. If someone in your group misses a call when the phone rings, they can join you whenever they want. It is also possible to leave the call and join it during the call. ”

If you click Ignore Call on the “Calls” tab on WhatsApp, you can always join it later. Also keep in mind that this tab will show group calls in progress, which reminds us a bit of the trend for audio rooms in ClubHouse or on Twitter Spaces.
