According to the Municipal Department of Health, only 12,265,000 young people sought a vaccination site by the 19th of this month. The vaccination campaign began on June 10, and is scheduled for July 12.

A triple viral vaccine protects against measles, rubella and mumps, and Unified Health System (SUS) is free for children of the first year of life. However, an increase in the number of cases led to the Ministry of Health campaigning for the country in other age groups.

In 2018, there was an outbreak of illness in Brazil with more than 10,000 cases, particularly in Amazonas and Roraim. After the crisis, the country lost the vaccine elimination certificate issued by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO / WHO). Brazil is no longer considered a disease-free area.

Worldwide measles cases grow 300% in 2019

According to the balance he made G1, in Brazil, 107 cases were confirmed in 2019. In São Paulo, the state health department this year confirms 51 cases. According to the municipal health department, 14 were registered in the capital, eight of which were imported (people who traveled or were in contact with those traveling) and six in an investigation of a possible infection site.

People aged 15 to 29 who have already taken both doses are not required. Those who did not take or suspect that they should attend basic health units (BHU) with immunization records and identification documents. The vaccine is contraindicated for pregnant women and people with immunosuppression.
