Chinese Internet commerce giant Alibaba has announced that it has achieved sales of 84 billion yuan ($ 12 billion) in the first hour of the Lonely Hearts Day campaign, Reuters reported.
This is 22 percent more than the sales of goods in the first hour of last year's stock. Back then, all-day sales totaled $ 30 billion.
Lonely Hearts Day is a campaign similar to Black Friday and Cyber Monday in the US and is the biggest event in the world of online sales. Its name comes from the date 11/11, in which four units symbolize people without partners in life.
Conceived as a protest against the traditional holidays centered around couples, "Lonely Hearts Day" gives consumers the opportunity to buy presents for themselves, offering them great discounts.
