For the first time in history, Ford Explorer will officially be sold in Europe and Bulgaria. The model is officially presented at a special event in Amsterdam, and what impresses is that a large SUV has seven seats and a hybrid drive.
In January this year, Ford introduced a major restructuring plan for operations in Europe. Now it is in the Netherlands that has been confirmed, as reforms include models that have only been sold in the US until now and will now appear on European markets as well.
At the Go Event in Amsterdam, Ford experts told us details of the new scheme, and in particular the fact that the official Ford Explorer will be sold for the first time in the Old Continent. The new Explorer will be available in Europe with a hybrid 450 hp powertrain.
The hybrid tract includes a three-liter V6 EcoBoost engine with a horsepower of 350 hp and an electric motor that adds another 100 horsepower. An innovative 10-speed automatic transmission as well as an ion-lithium battery with a capacity of 13.1 kW / h are added to this drive.
Ford people have convinced us that the average fuel economy of a large Explorer will not exceed 3.4 liters per 100 km of mileage. The car can only be 40 km away. Another interesting thing is that the drive has seven modes of operation.
The most common are Normal, Sport, Towing and Snow, and besides, the new Explorer will be able to pull the trailer up to 2,500 pounds. Sales in Europe and Europe will begin in 2020 and the car will be available in two versions – ST-Line and Platinum.
