Ron Hextall believes Philadelphia Flyers has a great future, even if it does not participate in it.
Hextall has canceled the CEO Flyers on Monday, 24 matches in the fifth season. Philadelphia has not set a schedule when the new GM will be named.
"I think this team is ready to do something great and I'm sure the next guy will come in and make good moves and win the Stanley Cup," he said during a news conference on Friday across the street from a practical flyer facility in Voorhees, New Jersey.

Flyers visitors (10-12-2) play at Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paint Arena on Saturday (7:00 ET, NHLN, ATTSN-PT, NBCSP, NHL.TV). They are 1-5-1 in the last seven games and last in the Eastern Conference.
Leaf President Paul Holmgren cites philosophical differences as a reason for Hextall's failure. Hextall felt that he and Holmgren were aiming to conquer the Stanley Cup but believed they needed a different way to get them.
"I think we are both after the same thing," said Hextall. "Maybe we both felt we would come to a different way, I do not know all the philosophical differences, and some day he is very aggressive and somewhere in the middle when you look at other managers. [NHL Salary] Save yourself and collect property, and develop and run young players in the future and keep moving. The third stage, we are close, so if we have to sell a farm, we sell a farm. But I did not feel we were at that stage. "
Flyers twice reached Hextall's season at Stanley Cup, but lost in the first round of the East Conference in six games against the Pittsburgh Penguins last season and Washington Capital in 2016.
Expectations are raised during downhill when they are ahead James van Riemsdyk have signed a five-year contract to join the core that involves forward Claude Giroux. Jakub Voracek. Sean Couturier and Wayne Simmonds, and defender Ivan Provorov and Shayne Gostisbehere.

But Van Riemsdyk suffered a lower body injury in the second season of this season and missed six weeks. The power of the game (26, 15.7 percent) and murder (30, 70.9 percent) are among the worst in the NHL. They allow 3.58 goals per game, the third in the league, and started five goals, NHL high.
Younger players are also expected to take the next step in their development, including ahead Travis Konecny, 21 i Nolan Patrick, 20, and defenders Provorov, 21, i Travis Sanheim, 22, were not consistent.
"Goaltending did not go as well as I hoped, the special teams did not go as well as I hoped, the young players did not take the step as I hoped," Hextall said.
Although Holmgren and Dave Scott, President of Comcast Spectacor, a Flyers company, praised Hextall for a job that has built a large base of prospects, Hextall's unwillingness to use those future assets for help at the moment was one of the philosophical differences,
"That was a big question," Scott said on Tuesday. "What can we do today to make the team better, not two or three years from now?"

Hextall insisted that there was a proper opportunity to improve the team, he had no problems with the young player's trading.
"Did I want to speed things up? Absolutely," he said. "If something were to make sense for the short and long term, we would do it.
"I was not ready to trade with a young player and / or some sort of guy in his mid-thirties, who could help us this year and could stop our road when his game came off … I was strong about it."
Despite the way things ended, Hextall said he was proud of what he and his employees built in Philadelphia.
"I'm proud of my 4-1 / 4 years here," he said. "We worked hard, explored the staff, the management team, the less coach in the league, all the players, worked hard and felt as though we were much accomplished, we created an analytics department, created a department of sports sciences, built a development area practice).
"I am proud of what we have accomplished, many of these things do not show above water, it's like a duck, legs are rowing like madness, but you do not see the results, but I feel that the results start to be proud of what we have achieved in building a team and building a foundation and I think they are in a great place. "
