The title also won almost universal praise of critics, including GameSpot; we gave him 9/10 in our Resident Evil 2 review and called him "scary experience like no other".
"Resident Evil 2 is not just a starry remake of the original, but it's also a powerful horror game that brings anxiety and grotesque situations, surpassing some of the best stuff," wrote critic Alessandro Fillari. "But above all, the remake is an impressive game for the fact that it goes all-in to the pure experience of the horror of survival, confidently accepting its terrible tone and rarely leaving the story to a conclusion."
