These New Year's babies are some of the first Canadians born in 2019



From coast to coast, families receive some of the first Canadians born in 2019.

Here are some Canadian babies:

First in New Brunswick

Baby Calum, born in the regional hospital of Saint John, may have appeared only at 12:42 am, but it made him the first child of the year in New Brunswick.

Close behind

The Toronto hospital says their first baby in the year was born just eight seconds after the clock began at midnight. Baby Fatima had not even expected another few days.

For a minute

At 12.01 PM MT, Baby Aryia was born in Calgary. And at 12:01 PM PT, baby Dominick became first born B.C.

Child Dominik is a New Year's baby before Christ, after being born at 12:01 at the Royal Columbian Hospital.

Montreal is the first

Montreal's first baby was born at 12:02 ET at the Royal Victoria Birthing Center. At the hospital, Mariella's parents made a special donation after her birth.

Mariella was born just two minutes after midnight on the New Year. She is the first baby born in Montreal in 2019. (MUHC)

Special birthday

Saskatoon's first baby from 2019 is not her only new-year baby. Aylin's big brother was Saskatoon's second child when he was born in 2017.

New Year's Day will double on birthday celebration in Mann's home, as both son and daughter are born on the first day of the year for two years. (Saskatchewan Health Authority)

Ottawa is the first

Ottawa had to wait for 47 minutes in the new year to welcome her first baby. Olivia was born at Queensway Carleton Hospital.
