From coast to coast, families receive some of the first Canadians born in 2019.
Here are some Canadian babies:
First in New Brunswick
Baby Calum, born in the regional hospital of Saint John, may have appeared only at 12:42 am, but it made him the first child of the year in New Brunswick.
The Toronto hospital says their first baby in the year was born just eight seconds after the clock began at midnight. Baby Fatima had not even expected another few days.
For a minute
At 12.01 PM MT, Baby Aryia was born in Calgary. And at 12:01 PM PT, baby Dominick became first born B.C.
Montreal is the first
Montreal's first baby was born at 12:02 ET at the Royal Victoria Birthing Center. At the hospital, Mariella's parents made a special donation after her birth.
Saskatoon's first baby from 2019 is not her only new-year baby. Aylin's big brother was Saskatoon's second child when he was born in 2017.
Ottawa is the first
Ottawa had to wait for 47 minutes in the new year to welcome her first baby. Olivia was born at Queensway Carleton Hospital.
