Traffic: Airport Parkway 'sheer ice' causes collisions; Transpo cancellations mount

Heads up, drivers. It's a bit slick out there.

Many streets remain snow-covered and the Airport Parkway is reportedly "sheer ice."

A stretch of parkway was closed by a crash Tuesday night and now a commuter comment that she spotted five cars in the ditch Wednesday morning.

Police reported that first responders were tackling at 7:08 am collision involving at least two cars in the northbound lane near Hunt Club Road.

Meanwhile, the truck landed in a snowbank at the same spot.

Initial word was that no injuries were reported.

At the height of the rush hour, a disabled vehicle in high-occupancy vehicle lane on the westbound Highway 417 at Moodie Drive was blocking all lanes.

Police reported slightly more collisions than usual.

Heads up: Highway 417 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Boundary and Anderson roads for construction from 8am. to 4 pm

Meanwhile, taking the bus might not be a less stressful option: OC Transpo had dozen-and-a-half canceled trips by around 7:20 am. with riders waiting for 30 minutes for the next trip.
