VANCOUVER – The RCMP says policemen from transit police were killed and sought what they believe was an armed suspect near the Skytrain station in Surrey, BC
In a statement, the RCMP says they received 911 calls and warnings from Metro Vancouver Transit police that one of their police officers was shot at the Scott Road Skytrain station at around 16.20 pm. Wednesday.
They say the cop was taken to a hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.
The RCMP has established a security zone, including the airspace, and has asked the public to keep it away from that area.
TransLink said in a tweet that the train station was closed due to an incident with the police, and the bus was offered as a replacement.
Sgt. Clint Hampton from the Metro Vancouver Transit police says the man is hurt and he does not believe anyone has been hurt by the public.
