More details on the updated contractual situation in NXT UK were revealed, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter report (mandatory subscription). With news from NXT UK talents who receive various contracts and big stars were restricted to compete outside their brand, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE's deal with various UK promotions allowed "buy and close" promotions if they wanted.
"A part of WWE's work agreements that they originally offered and agreed that WWE would have the right over the next few years, if they would, buy a firm at an agreed price (high six in at least some cases), then close them off they would not compete "with themselves" with the idea that will take place when they are engaged in full time on these markets. "
WWE currently has an employment contract with PROGRESS Wrestling and Scotland's Insane Championship Wrestling. Two promotions were commonly used by top stars like NXT UK and SmackDown superstar Killian Dain. It was announced earlier that a "non-competition" promotion was announced, although IMPACT Wrestling was not part of it.
Current NXT UK stars, including WWE UK Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate champion, have been granted a license to compete at Destiny Wrestling, although they will not be streaming live and only for the public.
