Source: US space agency selects 9 companies to bid for the monthly freight service
NASA announced on May 29 that it has selected nine US companies to offer a monthly aggressive service service, most of which are startup. This will be the future of American astronauts' research on the Moon and even on Mars.
The project, named "Business Moon Load Service," will provide a total $ 2.6 billion contract over the next 10 years. The selected companies will offer a range of services, including load and operation integration, load launch and lunar landing. NASA hopes to launch the monthly mission of delivering scientific space next year.
NASA Director Jim Bradenstein said it was "tangible progress by the United States returning to the moon's surface and remaining on the moon". The Business Lunar Load Service project will first send relatively small, cheap cargoes to the moon, and then carry out more traditional tasks of sending medium to large loads on the moon.
Among the nine selected companies, the only known American armed gangster is Lockheed Martin, and other companies include Draper, Deep Space Systems, Aerospace Robotics, Firefly Space, Intuition Machines, Masten Space Systems, and Moon Transportation, and off-track.
Bridenstin said that most of the companies involved in the competition did not carry out the complex space mission of this scale, but for those companies participation in this project is similar to venture capital, with high risk, but high yields.
Two big companies in the United States, Space Exploration Technologies and Blue Origin, did not enter the list of bidders. NASA has said it will periodically re-evaluate to allow more companies to participate in a "commercial monthly fee service".
In September this year, NASA announced plans to land on the moon before 2030. For this purpose, the US space agency plans to launch and build a platform for the Moon's orbit "deep space" stages as a "landing station" for landing.
