In Mexico, 85 percent of lung cancer cases are diagnosed in advanced stages, although there are procedures to identify this neoplasm which is the leading cause of death in the world, he said. José Manuel Mier Odriozola, a member of the Institute for Minimum Invasive Chest Operation (ICTMI).

"The vast majority of patients diagnosed with lung cancer are diagnosed in late phases, when they no longer have a therapeutic optionhe warned.

Manuel Mier clarified that tobacco consumption is a major factor in patients in Mexico. That's what he thought 87 percent of the patients consumed tobacco over most of their lives.
