They were arrested as they met at the Gerji district in Addis Ababa, in the former Imperial hotel that the corporation bought and renamed into the Amoraw building.
They are believed to have been detained in the temporary detention center of the Federal Police, according to sources.
METEC has for some time been in hot water for what current government officials believe is deep in corruption and bad governance.
In August this year, METEC was suspended from the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Boss (GERD) project due to delays and mismanagement that caused it, state officials said. Read here for this METEC story.
In October this year, and perhaps in an effort to recover his name, the METEC military-controlled industrial company announced it would be reorganized.
In addition to ongoing upgrading, METEC has also changed its name to the National Metalization Corporation (NMEC), under government approvals.
Brigadier General Kinfe Dagnaw, who led the corporation as director, until resigning in April 2018, after Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed was elected prime minister in the ruling party, was recently defended by METEC in the media.
