Neu-Hohenschönhausen: Firefighters have fire under control
On Sunday, there was a fire in the industrial zone. Firefighters are in full operation, but the flame is under control.
Berlin. After a fire on a car recycling plant in the Neu-Hohenschönhausen district of Lichtenberg, a fire on Sunday night was under fire control. "It will take several hours before the fire goes out," a fire department spokesman said.
The warehouse near the Gehrenseestraße S-Bahn station, which burned to a surface of 30 x 40 meters, was partially collapsed. The fire has not penetrated yet. However, firefighters managed to prevent the spread of flames on other buildings. It was supposed to last until the morning, the spokesman said – also because it was too dangerous for the forces to enter the hall. There are about 80 forces allocated.
The local inspector reported on the smoke pillar that is 100 meters in the sky. The thick black smoke was visible far beyond the city. According to the first findings, car parts such as gearboxes, lamps and engine parts are stored in the hall. There were several explosions, a spokesman for the fire station said. Probably in the hall were gas tanks.
Human lives were not endangered, a fire station spokesman said. At present nothing is known about the cause of the fire, which was determined by the criminal police. After a short time, the bridge was closed to the ground in the northeast of the city. The police have asked dozens of observers to leave the bridge.
An official hazard warning has been issued
Firefighters issued an official warning message in the evening that warned the inhabitants of Hohenschönhausen about the possible odor of the smell. Counties Oberhavel and Barnim could also be affected locally. Residents were asked to shut windows and doors and shut off air conditioning and ventilation systems. Although firefighters discovered only low combustion gases in the area, which were not hazardous to health, a fire station spokesman said. The warning was heard for safety
Threshold blows on S-Bahn trails
Due to the threshold at Friedrichstrasse in Mitte on Sunday afternoon in Berlin's S-Bahn district there was a delay and occasional cancellation of the train. Rail traffic S3, S5 and S7 could only be solved with a single track in time. Firefighters quickly fired the fire. At 6.30 pm the traffic started again on both tracks, and there were still some delays.
