In the future, Tesco plans to run out-of-pocket stores – Daily writes on Chargedretail. The UK's largest retailer has already asked Trigo Vision tech-start to implement a new trade model, and this innovation will enable Tesco to compete with Amazon.
Trigo Vision has already developed a non-cash system that, like the Amazon Go system, can automatically check for merchant buyouts using camera and machine learning using a virtual shopping cart. At the beginning of 2018, Amazon opened the first unit of the new concept store in Seattle, where a buyer enters a QR code store, and everything else (and payment) is done automatically. The system will probably use a combination of RGB cameras, depth sensors, and weight sensors.
According to the latest news, Tesco plans to introduce a similar model. Customers can download a chain application that will enable them to make an automatic payment when they leave the store. However, there is no news of where, when and how many such units will open.
