Pokemon Go players have discovered that Ditto is dressing up in several new types of Pokemon. Ditto was one of the first big mysteries in the Pokemon Go – a type of Pokemon missing from a game that players thought needed to be unlocked. Players tried out hundreds of theories before Niantic confirmed that Ditto just wasn't in the game until they added Pokemon at the end of 2016. Since then, Ditto has disguised itself as common types of Pokemon, not revealing its true shape until after it's captured. Now, Pokemon Go players have confirmed that Pokemon can be caught under the guise of several new species.
Ditto can currently appear as one of the following types:
Ditt's new disguises are to replace Yanma, which has been removed by similarly disguised disguises as Pidgey or Rattat. There is actually a practical reason for the new disguises – Ditto gets a new disguise every time one of his old disguises gets a great variant on the game. Niantic (rightly) assumes that players don't want to shoot Shiny Pokemon just because it would appear as Ditto, so it often changes substitutions. Since Yanma has a great Pokemon variant thanks to a recent Safari Zone event, Pokemon Go wanted to give Ditto new surprises and avoid any player frustrations.
The new masks are now active, so players looking for Ditto must keep an eye on one of the Pokemon listed above. Although not nearly as rare as it was in its heyday, shooting Ditto is still a pleasant surprise. Pokemon Go is available on both Android and iOS devices.
