A service that offers tests for women who may have inherited a gene that leaves them at a higher risk of breast cancer has been suspended for months in St. James's Hospital in Dublin.
Actress Angelina Jolie, who had such a test, had double mastectomy in recent years to prevent breast cancer.
A hospital spokesman said the family risk service was suspended since April due to a request for his X-ray device for symptomatic patients.
He recently received funds to replace a mammography machine and third-party purchase, which will probably be available early next year. This will help alleviate the delays experienced by patients waiting to have mammograms.
