JERUSALEM (JTA) – Attorney at law party Likud Oren Hazan has been called by a police officer to discuss with Kennesset.
Ilan Gilon of the Liberal Opposition The Meretz Party criticized Culture Minister Miri Regev during a heated debate Monday on a bill that would deny state funds to cultural organizations that show insufficient "loyalty" to the state. Hazan was lying on Regev's defense, and legislators exchanged words.
After Gilon called Hazan's "Pole Golema" – an anthropomorphic creature of clay and gave life – Hazan threatened with a disability legislator: "If you were not half, I would answer you."
Gilon had a child as a child and often used a wheelchair.
Hazan later apologized for ridicule, saying he did not want to hit the legislator's disability.
"My comments were about his barbaric behavior, and nothing else. If my statements were otherwise understandable, that was not my intention. Please accept my apology," Hazan said.
