The Volvo V40 comes first. All cars included in the ranking received a Euro NCAP safety rating of five out of five stars

In 2018, there were 172,553 personal injury accidents in Italy and, even if the figures were down 1.4%, compared to 2017, that figure remains dramatically high. While it is clear that awareness-raising should be carried out on the common sense of every driver, it is equally important to pay attention to the safety of the cars we choose, even more so when it comes to used cars, always striving to get the right combination between ensuring that the safety systems are in compliance with the latest standards and the need to find the “best deal” on the market. For this reason, CarGurus (www.cargurus.it) – one of the world's leading car markets – wanted to make a list of the safest used cars, wanting to make a personal contribution to it. To build his own rank, CarGurus analyzed many authoritative sources, including Co-op Insurance, which conducts research on the 10 safest used cars on the market each year and Thatcham Research, which runs the English Experimental Center for Euro NCAP, the European Car Safety Program that provides consumers with car safety information. All cars included in the ranking received a Euro NCAP safety rating of five out of five and have an AEB system (autonomous emergency braking system) as standard or optional device.
