A new discovery may change the way the heart attacks are treated

Heart attacks are an emergency medical condition that occurs as a result of heart failure in the heart, which is often caused by strokes. A new study has been conducted in Sweden that highlights a discovery that may change the current guidelines for treating heart attacks.

It is known that Igs or Igs are the type of protein that is formed by plasma cells in the blood. These antibodies often react with an immune system in the fight against harmful foreign bodies.

Recently, researchers from the Karolens Institute in Soln, Sweden, found that some antibodies – associated with rheumatic diseases – were present in a large number of people who had already had a heart attack.

These antibodies are antibodies to phospholipid-aPL, which are abnormal bodies that attack some of the tissues produced by the body, such as cardiolipin (lipoprotein) and beta-2-glycoprotein (plasma protein).

Scientists have noted that these objects (aPLs) usually occur in people with rheumatic diseases, such as lupus and systemic lupus erythematosus.

They also noted that increasing their presence increases the risk of blood clots, such as phospholipid antibody syndrome – APS ..

Antibodies are found at high levels

In the present study, the researchers were overly observing the presence of apps in the bodies of many people who had already had a heart attack and were not infected with autoimmune diseases.

The researchers worked with 800 people from 17 Swedish hospitals that had a heart attack. To ensure results, the same number of healthy people are employed for surveillance. Blood samples were analyzed twice, once after 6 weeks of infection, and once after 10 weeks.

The researchers looked for three different types of aPL, namely: immunoglobulin G, globulin M and globulin A.

During data testing, 11% of participants had high aPL rates, 10 times more than normal.

"I was already convinced that antibodies were more common than we think and now I've been able to analyze their presence," says Elisabet Svenungsson.

So how can these results change from therapeutic guidelines?

Although the results showed that G-globulin was present at high levels in volunteers, they were at risk of stroke, but researchers acknowledge that these results do not reflect the exact level of aPL; they can be a one-time response to heart attacks.

However, if the elevated aPL level is maintained for 3 months, the patient is diagnosed with phospholipid antibody syndrome, leading to elevated blood clots.

Professor Svenungsson explains: "In this case the patient is treated with warfarin for anticoagulant, to reduce the risk of new blood clots."
