It's no secret that healthy nutrition is the best prevention for diseases such as diabetes, stroke, heart disease or even cancer. According to the World Health Organization, poor nutrition and lack of physical activity today are globally a major health hazard. It does not seem easy – we'll eat better, move around and stay healthy, but is it really easy?

In 2016, the study conducted by the European Union's Statistical Office (EU) shows that every sixth European population suffers from obesity. This is a serious public health problem because it significantly increases the risk of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases and other illnesses.

In the meantime, a quarter of adult people, or about 1.4 billion, not devoting enough time to active physical activity. According to scientists, lack of physical activity is dangerous for a person, as well as smoking, diabetes or heart disease, and sometimes may have even more serious consequences. For 20 minutes a day, you should spend at least walking, jogging, swimming or other favorite sports activities.

Some figures really care for you. On November 8, European Day of Healthy Diet, European countries are trying to repeat the importance of a healthy diet for health.

Healthy foods: apples, broccoli, nuts, avocados, dried fruits, olive oil.

"In the last 20-30 years, food has drastically changed in Lithuania – the supply of fast food has increased or, for example, increased the variety of chocolate that contains lots of salt and sugar and so on. Changes and protein in the diet such as chicken , antibiotics that cause certain hormonal changes, increase the amount of estrogen, "said Professor KTU at the Kaunas University of Technology (KTU)," Modern wellness strategy, # student_2018 ", a health and nutritionist Dr. Artūras Sujeta.

What food is today a healthy choice?

The answer to the question of how healthy food again looks simple. It is a food that supplies the body with the necessary materials: protein, fat, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins.

According to A. Suvi, the diet should include more nutrition and sports specialists, scientists using menus useful for human health such as apples, broccoli, nuts, avocados, useful dry fruits, olive oil, etc.

It is very important that a healthy diet uses enough fiber, so keep in mind the use of fiber with food. The easiest way to get them is to choose fruits, vegetables or sandwich with all the parts of the snack bread.

It's for snacks that A.Sujeta advises to pay attention to. "If, for example, you drink coffee with milk and sugar, the body treats it as a snack, so" eat "such snacks (as well as others), you would not eat it for hours to normalize blood glucose."

Scientists also point out that functional food is a dietary diet that is eaten daily and which, apart from nutritional value, has an additional physiological effect on the human body. These food products contain functional food ingredients during the production process (the active ingredients of such food can be nutritional fiber, polyhedrin, bran, gastrointestinal tract and many others).

Experts believe that functional foods not only maintain optimum human health but also meet healthy eating habits.

"Functional food is considered to be the food of the 21st century," says Professor Rimantas Petras Venskutonis, professor of science and technology at the KTU Faculty of Chemical Technology, Faculty of Chemical Technology at KTU, Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology.

How to start a sport?

"Comparing the situation 100 years ago, and now we have reduced the circulation around 4 times," says A. Sujeta. Sporty, physically active is no less important than a healthy diet. It is recommended that adults ages 18 to 64, at least 150 minutes a week, to undergo intense aerobic exercises (fast walking, cycling, running, etc.) For body activity or at least 75 minutes for intense aerobic exercise.

A healthy stylist emphasizes that regardless of age, a person – a child, an adult or an elder – must move for everything and does not require special conditions.

"There is no excuse to do sports, enough basic conditions, even if a student who lives in barracks can go to the yard to escape," says A. Sujeta, adding that students who say they are banned in the sport are astonishing.

According to him, starting from smaller goals and investments, the desire and determination of the sport will not disappear from the first failure of the maximum set goals.

High schools also strive to create favorable conditions for sports for students, for example, KTU is active for the second year at the "Activated" sports club, where students can practice and get free advice on sports and food issues.
