Anwar started frenzied in Pasir Gudang

PKR President Anwar Ibrahim criticized rampant development at Pasir Gudang.

SUNGA PETANI: Every effort by the government to develop the land should take into account the comfort of people so as not to affect their well-being.

Taking into account the recent airborne pollution incident in Pasir Gudang, Johor, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said the unbridled development of a factory in the district has taken a huge toll on human health.

"This experience in Johor … was easy to develop, but the pollution affected the health of our children. The idea of something developing should not be at the expense of something else. In the end, what did we build? Factories. And what did we sacrifice? Health of our children.

"So now we are more pedantic about the aspects of development so we can not endanger the comfort and health of people," he said in his speech at the opening of the Kedah PKR.

Kedah, Chief Secretary Bakar Arang, Ooi Tze Min, and President of the Council of the PKR Management Board, Johari Abdul, were also present.

Anwar said that the Pakatan Harapan government should also be focused on solving people's problems, not just politics.

"We must always remember all the changes we take, touch the hearts of people and people's lives," he added.
