Sator Iwata may have left us many years ago, but the influence he has made and the spirit of man will never be forgotten. Incidentally, this nice letter from Sator Iwate sent to Twitter by Kumozawa1203. The letter comes from 2013, when Kumozawa1203 sent the letter as part of the school program. The program brought children to people / businesses to talk about future work goals. You can see Mr Iwate's full answer to the letter below.
This is Iwata from Nintendo.
Thanks for the letter. I am very happy to have selected Nintendo for the project "Hello Work at 12".
In high school, I was interested in computers, and soon I decided to study computer at school. While I was a student, I realized how fun it is to make video games and choose it for my business. Making video games is a job that requires a lot of energy, but for me it was even more fun than playing. This fact and the fact that other people could enjoy what I did, gave me the sense of purpose.
Game development requires connecting many different areas. People need to design games design, people drawing pictures, people making music and sound effects, people programming, people testing the game, people to make sure the whole team is doing well, and so on. So I do not think there is an accurate answer to the question of what you should study.
I think you will be able to find what you are good about by thinking deeply about all the things that interest you, not about spending your days without increasing knowledge, a lot of discoveries and repetitions of that process. Though what is good and what doing does not necessarily have to be the same, I had the experience of others to recognize the things I'm good at, even though I did not really like it. This is one of the reasons why you continue to study and gain experience without bias.
Please give yourself all.
