The royal tour of Pakistan comes more than 13 years after the last royal visit, when Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall left the country in 2006.

"Residents of Pakistan continue to cherish and are happy to remember the visit of Her Majesty the Queen of Pakistan during 1961 and 1997," he said.

"The upcoming royal visit is a reflection of the importance the United Kingdom attaches to its relations with Pakistan.

"The two countries enjoy the historic ties that both sides want to further strengthen."

The queen was the last time she left the country in 1997, ignoring controversy when calling on Pakistan and India to resolve their differences in addressing parliament in Islamabad.

When Charles and Camilla traveled to Pakistan, their visit has for some time been perceived as one of the most dangerous royal foreign tours.

With details of where William and Kate will travel to a land that will only be released, the Foreign Ministry states on its website that "terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Pakistan".

"Foreigners, especially Westerners, can be directly targeted," the report states, adding that the country is in a "major earthquake zone."

In recent months, there have been numerous attacks, including a bomb attack in front of the shrine in Central Lahor.

He was also an armed militant attack at the Pearl Continental hotel in Gwadar, Balochistan.

Pakistan shares borders with Iran, Afghanistan, India and China – two world nuclear powers.
