ALOR SETAR: The seven states of Kedah County were informed that State Assembly Guar Chempedak Datuk, Ku Abdul Rahman Ku Ismail left Umno and is now an independent representative of the people.
The announcement was made by the State Assembly of Datuk Ahmad Kassim as soon as the sitting began in the morning before the start of the oral hearing.
"I was notified of the letter I received yesterday (Wednesday) … so his sitting in the house will change," he said.
Where Abdul Rahman, 62, who was close to Yanja, won the general elections last May, defeating candidate for PAS Musoddak Ahmad.
Since 2008, he has been the State Assembly Barisan Nasional (BN) and has been appointed a state exco member from 2013 to 2018.
He graduated from the Rubber Science School of Loughborough University in the United Kingdom and from 1997 to 2001 was former Secretary of Defense Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar's political secretary. – Bernama
