SSA offers specialized medical services

In order to bring the population of scattered communities closer to specialized medical services, health services provide care to patients through the TeleSalud program, provide outpatient counseling through technological and medical support, avoiding saturation of general hospitals reducing consumption and risk of patient and relatives in transfers to other government units.

The agency reported that in 2021, one thousand and 70 consultations were conducted, which improved access to special services throughout the country.

He added that, in addition to the 4 basic specialties of surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics and gynecology, more than 15 subspecialties such as neuropediatrics, psychiatry, perinatology and neurology are offered, to name just a few.

In terms of equipment, there are 28 videoconferencing units, installed in 5 general hospitals, a psychiatric clinic, 8 primary community hospitals, 11 health centers, Cereda, CREE and the Central Hospital, with good acceptance by health staff and the population benefiting from the service. , because they provide quality care in a sustainable way.

This year, a pilot program was conducted, where social workers can schedule meetings with specialists from the Central Hospital Dr. Ignacio Morones Prieto directly from their mobile phones, reducing waiting times and consolidating the consultation data of the said hospital. This system has generated a significant reduction in patient absences, as well as technical problems and a shortage of specialists. This is because everyone involved has direct access to scheduled appointments and receives automatic updates by mail.

In addition, efforts have been made to improve the analytical processes of data available to the Ministry of Health to improve efficiency, reduce patient absences and simplify the schedule for social workers’ time off in such a way that epidemiological data can be collected to measure the impact of the program on population health. .
