At a global level, the rights raised for creators of all repertoires, namely music, audiovisual, visual arts, live performances and literature, reached a record of 9.6 billion euros in 2017, an increase of 6.2% over the previous year.
Revenues from digital exploitation of works were recorded for the first time in relation to a billion euros and show an increase of 24.0%, pointing to the same source, pointing out that these revenues were almost triple (+ 166%) in five years "thanks to the growth of electricity at all and , in recent times, the growing success of video streaming. Despite the rise in digital revenues in all directories to 1.27 billion euros, the sector still generates sums significantly lower than television and radio broadcasts and direct category (live) and atmospheres.
In addition, only 13% of creator revenue comes from digital (compared to 11% in 2016), "which reflects the incredible gap between the amount of content available on the network and the amounts back to the creators," the Confederation said.
