It’s a picture The tower of the Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakech, created by the Prime Minister in 1943 after a conference in Casablanca. Churchill – who died in 1965 – traveled with the American president Roosevelt Marrakech, after which he presented his painting to Roosevelt as a souvenir.
The painting, the only one Churchill made during World War II, brought in much more money than previously thought. Christie’s took into account an amount between 1.7 and 2.9 million euros.
