As if Fortnite not busy enough, now Kratos from PlayStation’s God of War franchise will join the game as a playing skin.
PlayStation’s official Twitter made rather humorous teasing of this intersection on Wednesday at 2 p.m. and Fortnite social media maven Hypex followed with several pictures showing Kratos ’position in the game.
“The next guy you pick up has literally defeated more gods with his bare hands in an attack of uncontrollable rage,” Agent Jones, Fortnite lore a character who tries to merge reality back, the announcement says. That narrows things down a bit.
FortniteSeason 5, Chapter 2 kicks off at midnight, and his theme “Zero Point” means almost everything goes. Galactus, the glutton of the world of the Marvel universe, rolled in on Tuesday, plunging everything into space-time chaos and launching a major crossover-palooza.
We already have a Mandalorian and his trusted assistant Baby Yoda (real name: Grogu). There’s also … uh, a delicate plate of butter spread in butter in a cowboy hat. So, yes, all that makes Kratos ’visit to any level of existence this is quite tame in comparison. Skillfully played, Fortnite chief continuity officer, whoever he was.
Kratos’ Fortnite the shape is based on his bearded God of war (2018) appearance, but still recognizable Kratos, with a distinctive war color and deathly pale skin. Kratos is likely to return in a sequel, again set in Nordic myths, to the PlayStation 5 sometime in 2021.
