Three people died in two fall cars in Hamilton early Sunday.
Three people died in two cars on the road in Hamilton.
The other two – both vehicle drivers – have survived and are currently in the Waikato hospital with serious injuries.
Two car crashes occurred at Mangaharakah Dr at 12.05 on Sunday.
All three dead – two women and a man – were in the same vehicle, said police officer Waikato, senior sergeant Simon Cherry.
At least two belong to the same family.
The driver of the car survived and took her to the Waikato hospital in a severe condition.
The only user of the second vehicle was also admitted to the hospital, said Cherry.
"It's an absolute tragedy," he said.
The police closed the road for several hours during the night while the scene was screened, but it was reopened until 6 o'clock.
The unit for serious accidents investigated the cause of the accident and it was too early to comment on other factors, he said.
Police are still in the process of informing family members.
