"All cars in the world are responsible for 20 percent of world oil demand, and emissions are only eight percent," he said.
"It's important not to give wrong signals to people.
Of the total car fleet of two billion cars in 2040, the IEA believes it will be about 300 million electric cars, the newspaper says.
