Ronaldinho had various problems with Brazilian justice
The Brazilian House of Representatives has called on former footballer Ronaldinho Gaúch to explain his relationship with the company, which was investigated with a view to promoting the financial pyramid, parliamentary sources said.
The former FC Barcelona, Milan and other clubs in Europe and America are suspected of involvement in a fraud attributed to 18kRonaldinho, which offered penguins and false profits in excess of 2% per day to those who made a minimum of $ 30 in virtual currency (bitcoin).
The company where the former footballer appeared as an "ambassador" was originally born as a watch and jewelry salesman, but according to the public ministry, he moved away from that job and began focusing on the financial pyramid with cryptocurrencies.
Attorney Sergio Queiroz, who represents Ronaldinho, told local media that his client's relationship with the company was terminated after it was learned the business had taken a different direction.
But Ronaldinho is investigating the matter and was called this Wednesday to appear on a date not yet set before a House of Representatives committee discussing anti-fraud measures against virtual currency.
In recent years, the former player of the Brazilian national team has had various problems with justice.
The latest was a crime against environmental law that he committed with his brother, businessman Robert Assis Moreir, when he ordered the construction of a pier in the Guaíba Lake area, in his hometown of Porto Alegre, which is protected by law in the middle of the park.
They both retained their passports and returned them only after they paid a fine of $ 1.5 million ordered by the southern city's judiciary.
