Who would face Man City in the Champions League outbreak?

Doubles 2-2 with Lyon on Tuesday evening secured the city's progress in the last 16 Champions League.

Now Pep Guardiola seems to end up being the winner of Group F, who need only one point against Hoffenheim at Etihad in the final group.

The defeat will open the door to Lyon to leap Blues, but they would have to win in Ukraine against Shakhtar Donetsk to take advantage of it.

If City finishes as a group winner, they will face each other in the second group when on Monday, December 17, in Nyon, draw for the second round.

Borussia Dortmund currently takes second place in Group A and they can only finish as winners of this group if Atletico Madrid does not win Club Bruges on the last day of the game.

In Group B Tottenham are in second place, standing at Inter level, and City will not be able to draw another English tournament in round 16. But Spurs faces an excursion to the Nou Camp in two weeks and if Inter scores a better home result at PSV Eindhoven then the Italian side will occupy the second place.

Group C remains broadly open, with Paris St Germain momentarily in seconds and faces the last trip to Belgrade to face Red Star. Napoli is a point of PSG but they are at Anfield in the last game.

Guardiola's team should go against Hoffenheim at the top of the group

Soccer and PSG victory will see Naples in second place, but if Liverpool defeats, it will probably end up second-placed but will not be attracted to the City at this stage of the competition.

Schalke has already secured second place qualifier in Group D with games to save, while Ajax will end in the second group in Group E if they do not win Bayern Munich at Johan Cruyff. Ajax gain could see Bayern in second place.

Roma will surely end up in second place in Group G, while Manchester United will almost certainly occupy second place in Group H. They could jump at Juventus if they win in Valencia and Starica fails to beat Young Boys.

Possible city opponents if they end up as winners of the group:

  • Borussia Dortmund or Atletico Madrid
  • Inter Milan
  • Napoli or PSG
  • Schalke
  • Ajax or Bayern München
  • Roma
  • Juventus
