Depression, obesity and chronic pain are among the most common health problems in the world. As part of a new study, German scientists have discovered a drug that will help overcome all of these three diseases. These are reported by the Frontiers of Health.
He received a PhD at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, and Felix Hausch conducted a new study on the effects of protein blockage associated with all three diseases.
This protein is called FKBP51. Hausch and colleagues have developed a compound that can block its activity in mice while removing chronic pain, improving mood and decreasing obesity.
The study's author explains that some parts of the human body, such as the brain, muscles and fatty tissue, contain FKBP51. Protein performs many functions, including limiting the absorption of sugar and forcing us to store fat instead of burning it, which can lead to obesity. Also, this protein is involved in our body's response to stress.
Thus, FKBP51 may be a new therapeutic option for treating depression, obesity, diabetes and chronic pain. However, researchers explain that they have to do a lot more experiments before they can test the drug in humans.
