Dakar, February 25 (APS) – The vaccination campaign against Covid-19, which officially started on Tuesday in Senegal, continues throughout the national territory, and on Wednesday, February 24, 4,087 people were vaccinated, we learned from the Ministry of Health and social action.
The Ministry of Health and Social Action counts 4,087 people vaccinated against Covid-19, three days after the start of the vaccination campaign, the director of prevention said during a daily update dedicated to the evolution of coronavirus disease.
According to doctor El Hadj Mamadou Ndiaye, also a spokesman for the ministry, 4,005 people were vaccinated during the day on Wednesday, with the first 82 people receiving the dose on Tuesday.
After the start of the vaccination campaign in Dakar, Kaolack, Matam, Saint-Louis and Thiès, other regions follow, according to Dr. Ndiaye.
The regions of Sédhiou, Fatick, Kaffrine, Louga and Ziguinchor will start on Thursday, while the regions of Tambacounda, Kédougou, Diourbel and Kolda are not expected, where the vaccination campaign is due to start on Monday.
For his part, Head of State Macky Sall will be vaccinated this Thursday, from 3 pm, in the banquet hall of the Palace of the Republic.
Senegal officially launched a vaccination campaign against Covid-19 on Tuesday, after receiving 200,000 doses of the vaccine from Chinese company Sinopharm.
The country now has a total of 33,741 positive cases, 28,112 cured and 4,776 patients in treatment, according to the latest official count from Thursday.
