How can I know if I have a crown? The real answer is still unknown – because it depends on whether the person with the covid is vaccinated or not, whether he is a mutant, whether the patient is old or young, in good health or not.
Last year, dry cough and fever were clear symptoms of the coronavirus. However, if headaches and limb pains still occur – then it was an obvious case of the flu. Sneezing, runny nose and sore throat – thankfully just a cold. In this way – roughly simplified – the interpretation of the symptoms at the beginning of the pandemic could be described.
And then there was the loss of smell and taste – a clear indication of SARS-CoV-2 infection. And that is still true.
It is different with all other symptoms. They are, shall we say, somewhat fluid. We try to find them using biomarkers and recognize a pattern based on blood types. In addition, they can vary depending on whether the person with the corona virus has already been vaccinated, whether it is a mutant, whether the patient is old or young, in good health or not.

Ongoing research in the UK has published data on symptoms. In the Zoe COVID Symptom Study, infected people report their symptoms through the app. Accordingly, the symptoms have obviously changed – which may (not necessarily) be due to the delta variant which now accounts for 99% of infections in the UK (data 12 July 2021). Here are the different groups:

In principle, both vaccinated and unvaccinated reported similar symptoms of coronavirus, the website said.
“However, those who were vaccinated reported fewer symptoms that lasted shorter, suggesting they have milder forms of the disease and are recovering faster,” the text reads.
As it is known in the meantime: vaccinated people can also be infected with the corona virus. But the data confirm that they usually have mild symptoms. And the vaccine prevents severe or even life-threatening cases of covid-19.
The current sequence of coronavirus symptoms after two vaccines:
- runny nose
- odor loss
This brings us to the symptoms we usually associate with the common cold. Misinterpretation of these symptoms could be inconvenient and it is possible that this is what led to the spread of the delta variant in the UK.
Which are the bestCeshprand symptoms in unvaccinated?
Some symptoms from the beginning of the pandemic are still present, but there have been some changes to the list:
- runny nose
- persistent cough
The loss of odor has slipped to number 9 on the list, and shortness of breath is well below number 30. These fluctuations may indicate that previously known symptoms change as the virus mutates.

German virologist Christian Drosten also cites the results of the study and a statement by Tim Spector, an epidemiologist and leader of the ZOE study. He believes that the discussion of symptoms in the media does not mention one important thing:
The general picture of symptoms has changed because “older people are now being vaccinated and this research shows that younger people are infected”.
In younger people, the symptoms usually go in the direction of a general flu-like infection, with headache, sore throat and a slightly elevated temperature. Whooping cough, which was so typical of elderly patients, is now less registered, Drosten says.
He says he would attribute this less to the delta variant, and more to the fact that the younger ones are now increasingly affected because the older ones are more vaccinated.
“I think you have to wait until something really scientific is published about it,” Drosten said.
Please don’t sayprand: “It’s just a cold”
If you suspect you are infected, it is always the right decision to get tested and keep your distance, agree Tim Spector and Christian Drosten.
“I think that was the meaning of this public address, to warn the population, especially the younger population that is now infected – be careful, even if you do not feel very sick. You don’t have to just think: well, it’s just a cold, “says Drosten.
A recent study by Gutenberg Kovid-19 from the University of Mainz found that – more than 40 percent of all infected people do not know they have or have had a crown.
Study author Philip Wild confirmed that testing should not be abandoned due to vaccination status or low frequency. “This is an important measure to monitor the dynamics of the pandemic,” he said in an interview with DW.
Staying alert and vigilant is not an option, but an obligation – whether you have been vaccinated or you have recovered. Gutenberg’s study showed that corona measures are effective – keeping distance, increased hand hygiene, wearing a mask indoors and ventilation.
