Free Testing at HIV City Belgrade

Thursday, November 29, 2018

The World AIDS Day this year is celebrated under the slogan "Discover Your Status". On this occasion, all interested citizens can consult and test HIV on Saturday, December 1, at the Belgrade Public Health Institute (Bulevar despot Stefana 54a). Testing will take place on the 4th floor from 8 am to 1 pm, according to a statement.

This year, the world celebrates its 30th anniversary in the world on the 30th, to draw attention to the importance of public health in the HIV pandemic and demonstrate international solidarity. For long and qualitative life with HIV, the most important thing is that the infection is detected in time and treatment begins.

HIV infection in Serbia is modern, free and accessible to all patients. Data from the HIV / AIDS Register of Public Health Institute Belgrade show that the largest number of people infected are registered each year in Belgrade. Also, a significant percentage of infected people reveal an advanced infection, resulting in a higher risk of AIDS and dying.

It is estimated that about a thousand people in Serbia still do not know that they are infected. The UNAIDS goal for 2020 is 90-90-90. To diagnose HIV in 90 percent of the estimated number of people living with HIV, provide treatment for 90 percent of HIV-infected patients and achieve undetectable viral activity in 90 percent of the patients being treated. If the risk can not be prevented, it is extremely important to check your HIV status as soon as possible. Therefore, once again emphasizes the importance of testing HIV, which should always be accompanied by counseling, adds a statement by the City Public Health Institute.
