Continuous losing and weight gain could increase the risk of death, new research finding, Business Insider

The weight of a person may change due to changes in nutritional habits, exercise routines, hormones and even nutritional deficiencies. However, constant losing and weight recovery – also known as "weight of the bike" and "yo-yo dieting" – could have negative side effects, including increased risk of death.

A new study published in the journal Endocrinology & Metabolism of the Endocrine Society examines the risks associated with the weight cycle. After testing 3.678 males and females from the Korean genome and epidemiological studies, researchers found that the weight of cycling was associated with a greater risk of death.

The study did not have only negative results. Researchers also found that people with obesity who during losing weight during weight cycles had less likely to develop diabetes over time.

This is not the first time that researchers investigated a negative situation on yo-yo diets. Last year, a study in the New England Journal reviewed data from 10,000 men and women with coronary heart disease. During four years of observation, researchers found that people who repeated the weight gain and loss experienced more heart attacks and blows than those who did not, as The Verge reported.

Studies published in the International Journal of Obesity have been published in the 2006 study. In addition to increased cardiovascular risk, the study found several adverse side effects associated with a weight cycle, including blood pressure fluctuations, heart rate, blood glucose levels, and lipids.

However, these two previous studies are aimed at people with previous cardiovascular conditions. Newer research is one of the first to focus on the larger population.
