It did not come with Giulia Quad's 2.9-liter, double turbo V-6 with 505 hp, effectively the Ferrari V-8 with two cylinders. Instead, he was motivated by 2.0-liter, 280-horsepower inline four, but with one turbocharger.

In my experience, it can be tricky to move down to consider the less ambitious level of car volume that intends to ignite the thrill of the senses after driving the road to a smarter spec. In the case of Giulia, however, I went into a process with themed expectations: Quadrifoglio was power, but I guess foursome will be fine.

The big differentiator for Giulia when it comes to BMW and Audi is that Alfa is Italian, and this is not a tedious German choice in the luxury four-door. But Alfas should also be fun to drive. Giulia Quadrifoglio must have been. What about a smaller version?

Like, say, BMW, I usually encounter an expressive curve of impressiveness behind the wheel. Series 3 is Juliet's natural enemy, and from basic machines up to the powerful M3, you're rewarded more than anything behind the wheel.

Four-cylinder Giulia offers something else. The car feels a feather, light, quick on the feet. And it's fast, with these five seconds -60 mph time. The "dynamic" DNA setup gives you a good move from the throttle and the narrow entrances from the steering wheel. Find some curves and throw Giulia into them. But use a suspension and a sharp traction to pull it out, instead of trickling like you could with Quadrifoglio.

In "Normal" mode, you can enjoy the quiet and elegant comfort of the city. The "Adaptive" way allows the best use of all-wheel drive systems – and that's what I did, on Thanksgiving holidays on the East Coast! Giulia was very, very convincing in some unpleasant conditions.

The safety and driver features are what you would expect from a modern luxury sedan, from the blind spot detection to the warning and the collision to the front (all in all, about $ 2,000 extra for everyone).

The bottom line is that I was actively dreaming of possessing Giulia while I was driving. That suited my moods. And for $ 52,000, my well-equipped tester offers a lot of price, and who knows, you might be able to talk about some deals, given Alfa's news on the US market.

It is a big warning that Alpha has not so far excelled in quality reputation. However, Giulia comes with a 4-year / 50,000 mile warranty cover car and powertrain so you can expect the company to fix any current problems.

Alfa Romeo ne-Quadrifoglio Giulia is attractive because it offers something attractive not to be German, and matching and in some ways surpasses Mercedes, BMW and Audi. Worth a look.
