Arrival to Western Europe is still questionable.
MOSCOW. In Russia, the new Renault Arkana began to sell, which could also be interesting in Western Europe.
In fact, Renault has entered a segment that is very specific and connects us with premium brands. These are the so-called SUVs, ie, without a roof covering that goes backwards. We heard about Arkana last year when he showed an almost identical concept at the car show in Moscow.
If we forget about Ssangyong Actyon, only the BMW X4 or Mercedes GLC Coupé offers a similar alternative to medium size SUVs. But the situation will change over the next few years, and mainstream brands will be selected in a similar way.
The Renault Arkana is therefore the first slit of an affordable SUV coupe. It does not use top technology, based on the Dacia Duster chassis, just like the Russian Renault Kaptur. However, the car manufacturer claims 55 percent of new components were used.
In the local market, the second generation of Duster is not sold, so Arkana will not only fill a small market niche. An interesting feature is the big wheelbase of 2721 mm, which is 16 mm higher than the larger Koleos.
The interior is also based on the second generation Duster, a more accurate version sold in South Africa, which has a different design of ventilation openings. The only change is the presence of a more modern Infotainment Easy Link with an 8-inch screen.
A 4.54-meter vehicle can drive a front or all-wheel drive and in both cases two petrol engines are available.
Or atmospheric 1.6 SCe of 115 hp or a new 1.33 TCe turbo engine with 150 horsepower. This is the first time it has appeared on the Russian market. In addition to the 6-speed manual transmission, the X-Tronic CVT transmission is available for all-wheel drive.
Arkana should also receive Western European equivalents in the coming years, but will use a more sophisticated CMF chassis platform. 70% of Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance cars will have it until 2022.
Richly equipped Arkana Edition One is based on 20,000 euros in Russia. Production will be provided by Renault's production plant in Moscow, and apart from Arkana, Kaptur will also be created, which will have our bodybuilder and first generation Renault Duster sold in Russia as Nissan Terrano next to our Captur.
