The AIDS Day at the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) reduces the number of HIV infections worldwide, but at the same time increases the number of infections with other sexually transmitted diseases. Condoms are still the most reliable protection.
Among sexually transmitted infections, viral hepatitis, gonorrhea, syphilis, and chlamydia infections. The main reason for this is the same as in Slovenia and the world – abandoning the fear of AIDS, that they are no longer familiar with younger generations, says Mojca Matičič from the Clinical Center for Infectious Diseases and UKC Ljubljana Clinics.
Among the reasons mentioned are the use of various relaxing sex braking devices or thoughts about the potential risk of sexually transmitted infections. And also the use of mobile applications that often call only one-time sex with an unknown person whose health background we do not know. Likewise, as many studies show, risky sexual intercourse is a common journey.
Age on first sex has fallen
Age in which people have first sexual behavior has fallen in Slovenia, and early sexual activity is associated with risk behaviors such as multiple sexual partners, reduced condom use, higher share of sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies. According to NIJZ, most young people are well informed about HIV or AIDS due to the campaign on the International AIDS Day, but at the same time point to the bad knowledge of other sexually transmitted infections.
In Slovenia, education for healthy sexuality is not part of the regular curriculum. "Despite the many efforts to educate educators of healthy sexuality and development of material for sexual education, we still see great disparities in implementation," they wrote in NIJZ.
Three quarters of young people who have had early sexual intercourse believe that sexuality needs to be known more. Among them, most of them said they would rather learn more about sex than their parents and sex education at school. Research on sex education among high school students in Slovenia has also shown that almost two thirds of sexual information are provided online, but this is not always verified and professionally correct.

Voluntary projects have been undertaken through educational initiatives
Educational gap in this area is trying to complete various projects outside the school program, such as the City Youth, the well-informed and informed city cat of Ljubljana's young friends and the project Virus from the Society of Medical Students of Slovenia who are conducting workshops on safe and healthy sexuality in schools.
According to Lučica Maria Neudauer, the Virus Project, which now operates in the field of general reproductive health, has started medical students 20 years ago in the fight against AIDS. In recent years, however, one of their main activities is a secure sex workshop for students and students.
These know-how in this area is safe, but as Neudauer, this generation, gets a lot of information on the web. "It is important to have someone who believes it enough to ask them to ask questions. We are often the same because our advantage is to be close to them and to look at us as young open people, and besides for us, they do not know the difference between their own professor, "she said. Tanja Progressor from the Young, Healthy and Awareness program emphasizes that parents can play a key role in sex conversations.
