Now, nurses are printing nonsense – psychiatry

Earlier, only doctors could print nasal congestion, an antidote that can be given in case of overdose of opioids, such as heroin and morphine. The National Health Board and the Agency for Medical Products together have increased the availability of naloxone medicines.

Since March, it is possible to deliver naloxone during treatment time instead of being taken to a pharmacy. And since August, the rescue service has the opportunity to treat opioid overgrowth with naloxone in expectation of an ambulance.

– Now nurses can prescribe certain drugs containing naloxone, provided that the nurse has the skills needed to prescribe to be in good and safe care. The chief of operations will be responsible for assessing the fulfillment of the conditions, "says Åsa Lindberg, a lawyer at the National Health Board, in a statement on the authority website.

Since January this year, the drug is freely distributed to people who are at risk of taking or witnessing overdose. So far 400 people have received a total of 1 100 doses of naloxone, and 140 times the nasal spray has been used.
