Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Research, on Tuesday held talks with Dr. Mohamed Ould Ammar, chief executive of the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO), in the presence of Dr. Ghade Abdel-Barari, Secretary General of the Egyptian National board for UNESCO.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Amar congratulated him on taking over the duties of the General Director of the Organization, pointing out that Egypt had the right to run for that position.
Abdulghafar praised the role of the organization as a body to preserve culture and work on the development of educational mechanisms in the Arab world, adding that Egypt wants to support cooperation with the Organization in achieving the goals of improving education systems and higher education in line with the goals of a sustainable development plan.
The Minister confirmed the readiness of Egypt to organize Arab Ministerial Conferences, sponsored by ALCO, as well as co-operation through participation in the organization of numerous cultural, educational and sport events sponsored by the Organization.
The minister pointed to the importance of seeking a larger Egyptian delegation in ALECSO, in the light of the Arab position of Egypt and the comprehensive cultural and educational renaissance, and pointed to the progress of the Egyptian candidate for the position of Director of the Arab Institute for Research and Studies.
The Director General of the Organization, for its part, emphasized the leading role of Egypt in the development of education and scientific research in the Arab world, pointing to its aspiration for further cooperation to strengthen the organization and achieve its goals.
He also stressed Egypt's importance to the success and strengthening of the Organization's activities due to its status in the Arab world.
