Zelensky signs a law allowing the National Bank of Ukraine to issue its own digital currency

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the Law on Payment Services, allowing the National Bank to issue its own digital currency.

The Ukrainian central bank has also been given the right to launch a regulatory framework for testing services and tools based on “innovative technologies”.

In addition, the law expands the requirements for payment service providers to use strong user authentication in certain cases.

The document also distinguishes between the concepts of digital currencies of central banks and electronic money.

The Verkhovna Rada passed the law on June 30th.

Recall that in July, Ukraine presented a strategy for the development of a virtual property market for a period of three years.
