Macdonald will star alongside returning cast members Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar, and filming is set to begin next year.
"We are honored to have Kelly Macdonald join Martin, Vicky and Adrian in Series 6 Order of duty"said showrunner Jed Mercurio." DCI's Joanne Davidson will prove the least enigmatic opponent the AC-12 has ever faced. "
