A woman who has had about eight months of pregnancy was shot dead in southern London.
The 26-year-old was found with stinging wounds in the Raymead, Thornton Heath, Croydon Avenue at 03:30 BST and was found dead at the scene.
Scotland Yard said that her child was delivered from a nursing home and taken to a hospital. The child remains in critical condition.
A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Det Ch Insp Mick Norman described stabbing as a "terrible incident" and said sympathy forces came out [the woman’s] devastated family.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan rumored that his "prayers with this innocent child and mother who had so tragically lost".
Met said that the closest woman was informed and that the autopsy would be done in due course.
The Great Crime Scene "will probably be in place for some time," Det Ch Insp Norman said.
